CHRIS COBB DPT, COMT, CertDN, SMT
Dr. Chris Cobb, Physical Therapist, has spent most of his life as a resident of Greer, SC. He graduated with his Masters in Physical Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2003 after receiving a BS in Biology at Charleston Southern in 1999. Dr. Cobb returned to MUSC to complete his doctorate work in 2008.
Dr. Cobb enjoys and specializes in using hands on manual techniques for spinal dysfunctions. He received certification from Maitland Australian Physiotherapy in 2007 and is currently one of only ten listed therapists in SC who have achieved this advanced certification in manual therapy.
In 2012, Dr. Cobb received his certification in Dry Needling through the Spinal Manipulation Institute. Dry Needling is a new evidenced based approach to releasing trigger points and relieving neuro- muscular pain. Dr. Cobb has also completed extensive training in manual manipulation techniques and incorporates various schools of thought in providing his patients an individualized treatment plan to meet their needs. In 2014, he received his Spinal Manipulation certification also through the Spinal Manipulation Institute.
In 2012, Dr. Cobb provides the residents of the Upstate with a comprehensive, individualized approach to eliminating back pain, neck pain and headaches. “Current research proves that the most effective approach to treating spine dysfunctions is a combination of manual techniques, including High Velocity, Low Amplitude Thrust and mobilizations, with exercise, flexibility and body mechanics training. Dr. Cobb’s goal is “to individually treat the whole patient, educate them and give them necessary tools to prevent future occurrences.”
When Dr. Cobb is not in the clinic treating complicated cases, he enjoys being outdoors either running, mountain biking, or competing in adventure races. Dr. Cobb is married to his Medical School sweetheart and has 2 children.
